Bread and Torah: Rabbi Jonathan Rubenstein and Rabbi Linda Motzkin
Friday October 26 – Sunday October 28
In 2004. Rabbis Linda and Jonathan founded the Bread and Torah Project. Rabbi Jonathan is a bread maker and baking teacher, and Rabbi Linda is one of a handful of women in the world who is trained as a soferet (a Torah scribe), and the only one who makes her own parchment, out of deerskin hides donated from local hunters. Through Bread and Torah (www.BreadandTorah.org) they offer experiential learning in traditional scribal arts and bread making.
Rabbi Linda Motzkin and Rabbi Jonathan Rubenstein have served since 1986 as co-rabbis of Temple Sinai in Saratoga Springs, New York. Their career has been focused on the interconnection of spirituality, community building and social action. Rabbi Jonathan grew up in the Temple Israel community, one of the four children of Rabbi Emeritus Byron T. Rubenstein and Suzanne Rubenstein, of blessed memory.
