This year takes a deep dive into the Torah stories that permeate our tradition, specifically focusing on how these Torah stories teach us how to be mensches, better people. Through art, drama, and other creative avenues, students explore the Torah, focused in on Genesis and Exodus. For example, students will consider how the story of the Garden of Eden and Cain and Abel teaches us the importance of honesty and the Joseph story teaches us a myriad of lessons, among them the importance of not stealing, not being jealous and appreciating one’s blessing. Second graders continue their exposure to Hebrew, learning the letters through games and other activities.
