Ninth-graders will take a deeper look at what it means to be a Jewish teenager and how they relate to the world around them. We will explore the state of Israel and look at its history as well as the current world issues surrounding the Middle East. As ninth-graders examine their place in the world and Jewish identity, they will learn about other religions religions, looking deeply at the practices, ethics, and beliefs of Islam and Christianity, as compared to Judaism. Alongside their high school peers, ninth-graders will participate in an evolving selection of electives such as the Kosher Kitchen, Heroes of the Holocaust, Jewish Music and Conversational Hebrew.
The evening sessions begin with our core studies, which are followed by a shared dinner and social time followed by trimester schedule electives. Once a month, ninth-graders will participate in BBYO special programs, enjoying teen-focused activities with other Jewish youth.
BBYO
This year our teens registered for Tuesday Jewsday have the incredible opportunity to join our BBYO programming on the first Tuesday of each month. BBYO is an international Jewish teen youth movement focused on engaging more Jewish teens in a meaningful way. BBYO provides students in grades 8-12 with fun, meaningful and affordable experiences that inspire a lasting connection to the Jewish people. BBYO focuses on the core priorities of inclusivity, Jewish identity, active leadership and tradition. We are so excited to share these experiences with our Temple Israel Teens.
