Grade 8

Eighth-graders: get ready for Hot Topics!  We will explore controversial moral issues such as sex, gender identity, drugs and alcohol, euthanasia, and capital punishment through a Jewish lens.  In addition, we will examine the different denominations of Judaism, comparing orthodox, conservative, reform, and beyond! Students will also participate in an evolving list of electives on a trimester schedule ranging from food in the Torah to Jewish music and Jewish communities around the world.

The evening sessions begin with our core studies, which are followed by a shared dinner and social time followed by electives. Eighth-graders become eligible to participate in BBYO and will enjoy teen-focused activities with other Jewish youth once a month in the second part of the evening.

BBYO

This year our teens registered for Tuesday Jewsday have the incredible opportunity to join our BBYO programming on the first Tuesday of each month. BBYO is an international Jewish teen youth movement focused on engaging more Jewish teens in a meaningful way. BBYO provides students in grades 8-12 with fun, meaningful and affordable experiences that inspire a lasting connection to the Jewish people. BBYO focuses on the core priorities of inclusivity, Jewish identity, active leadership and tradition. We are so excited to share these experiences with our Temple Israel Teens.
