Our Madrichim program offers a unique opportunity for teens who want to work with children in our Religious School classrooms as a student aide or in the Religious School office as an office aide. Madrichim participants must be in grades 6 through 12 and like working with children. Ability to read Hebrew is very helpful. Madrichim can work as volunteers or, for those 14 years or older, it can be a paid position.
Madrichim help teachers by working with students one-on-one or in small groups, help manage the classroom setting by modeling good behavior and occasionally lead a short lesson. There are several Madrichim meetings a year where students are taught about different aspects of the Madrichim position. For those students who want to help out, but are not comfortable in the classroom, Madrichim can also work in the Religious School office with attendance, tzedakah collections, calculations, copying and other office tasks. Students who are members of Temple Israel and who are post Bar/Bat Mitzvah may work as a Madrichim whether or not they are enrolled in Religious School.
If you are interested in applying to be a Madrichim, contact Rachel Wiskind, Director of Youth Engagement for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
